Reproducible packs and relocatable libraries

Deliver prompts together with code and static assets, or distribute an immutable compiled library across devices. The compiler now separates frontend, middle-end optimization, linking and backend distribution.

Changes

Four source roots, three product roles

  • xs:pack aggregates entry-only includes and byte-preserving assets into a reproducible ZIP .pack.
  • xs:sopack imports modules, defines macros and assets, and preserves IR, compiled units and metadata without final products.
  • Archive names, order and timestamps are deterministic; raw assets are not parsed as XML or whitespace-squished.

SOPack is a library, not a cache

  • Declare { sopack = "vendor/common.sopack" } or use add common --path vendor/common.sopack; remove uses the existing dependency lifecycle.
  • Source identities relocate with the library, preserving diagnostic positions and defining-source asset ownership.
  • The linker consumes uniform compilation units regardless of whether they originated locally or in a SOPack.

Explicit stages and opt-in evidence

  • Frontend lowering, middle-end evaluation, linking/link-time optimization and backend distribution have explicit responsibilities.
  • Telemetry and tracing are disabled by default and persist across runs in project metadata when enabled.
  • The bundled Agent Skill and manual document the new unit and product boundaries.

Compatibility

  • Projects using pack, SOPack, asset or include require 1.2.0; the namespace URI remains unchanged.
  • Old derived caches are intentionally invalidated. Clean and rebuild; keep dependencies available before an offline rebuild.
  • Use SOPack for cross-device reuse, not copies of private cache directories. Trace metadata is not part of reproducible products.
